Cameron County recognizes RGV HIE as an MU 2 Specialized Registry

  • Why is Cameron County Supporting MU2 Specialized Registry Public Health Measure?

The Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services supports the Meaningful Use Stage 2 Specialized Registry Public Health Measure because it provides a mechanism for Eligible Providers (EPs) to meet the Stage 2 Menu Measure 6. This provides EP's the capability to identify and report specific cases to a specialized registry (other than a cancer registry), except where prohibited, and in accordance with applicable law and practice.
  • How is Cameron County DHHS going to meet Measure 6 of MU2?

In ensuring EPs in Cameron County meet this objective, the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services is utilizing RGV HIE Chronic Disease Registry which qualifies as a Meaningful Use Stage 2 Specialized Registry. All EPs in Cameron County who use a certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) and participate in the Chronic Disease Registry are eligible to meet Meaningful Use Stage 2 Menu Measure 6.
  • What is the process to apply?

In order for an EP in Cameron County to meet this measure, an EP must register their intent to submit data to the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services for Meaningful Use Stage 2 Specialized Registry with the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services by the deadline (within 60 days of the start of the EHR reporting period). All Eligible Providers who qualify and intend to submit electronic data to the Chronic Disease Registry must register their intent by completing and submitting the Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services Meaningful Use: Stage 2 Eligible Professional Registration Form found above.
  • How will I receive confirmation of my registration?

After registration has been validated, you will receive a confirmation letter or, if needed, a request for additional information from the RGV HIE. Questions regarding this process may be addressed to Janie Martinez, Project Manger, via email at janie@old.rgvhie.org.
  • When is the deadline for EPs in Cameron County to register?

Please reference the table above for Meaningful Use reporting periods for Eligible Professionals. This specific program participation is limited to Eligible Providers in Cameron County only. Those who wish to submit data to the Specialized Registry must register their intent to submit data within the first 60 days of their Meaningful Use reporting period.
